These four Lisa Marie Presley duets with her father, Elvis Presley, will make you cry

As we remember Lisa Marie Presley after her sudden death on January 12, 2023, we celebrate her life and talent as a singer and songwriter. Six years before her first album, To Whom It May Concern, came out, she first showed her singing talent to the public during Elvis Week 1997 in Memphis.

It was the 20th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death in August 1997, and for a special tribute to her father, 29-year-old Lisa Marie recorded a duet with his recording of “Don’t Cry Daddy”. Possibly inspired by the worldwide sensation six years earlier of Natalie Cole dueting with her father’s recording of “Unforgettable”, this Presley duet was a huge hit with Elvis fans who saw it exclusively at the Fed Ex Forum in Memphis. It was evident that Lisa had inherited the female version of her father’s deep and soulful voice.

Ten years later, after Lisa had released two albums, she returned to Elvis Week in Memphis with another stunning duet with her father. It was 2007 which was the 30th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death. This time Lisa chose to sing “In the Ghetto” with Elvis. The music video was also shown on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show later that year. At the end of the song, Lisa came onstage and sang the chorus with the Harlem Gospel Choir.

Five years later in 2012, just three months after her third studio album, Storm and Grace, was released, Lisa Marie Presley returned to Elvis Week in August. She paid tribute to her father on the 35th anniversary of his death with a duet of “I Love You Because.”

“It was a very powerful and moving experience to sing with my father,” Lisa Marie said. “The lyrics speak to me and touch my soul. I’m certain that the lyrics spoke to my father in much the same way.”

Lisa Marie Presley was only 54 years old when she died. She will be buried at Graceland next to her father and son.
